Miami comes out for Cubamerican

Wed, 03/06/2013 - 05:31

Last night we were honored with a sellout crowd at the Miami premiere of Cubamerican.  We received a full on standing ovation that honored us and warmed our hearts. We were thrilled that Al De Molina, Joe Greer, Eduardo Padron, Orlando Diaz-Azcuy and Don Jose Orlando Padron from our cast were in attendance.  Seeing the response of the audience both in San Jose and here in Miami has made us ever more committed to putting all our energy in the effort to get the message of Cubamerican to the world.  For those of you in the Miami area Cubamerican has one more screening on Thursday evening March 7th at 9:45 at the Regal South Beach Cinemas in Miami Beach.

I came in Oct 6, 1966 with my mother on the Freedom Flights. I was 13 years old, now I am almost 60 yrs young. I still have my letter that was given to us on the plane welcoming us to the United States. Would like to hear from you guys any thoughts about my letter. I am looking forward to seeing this documentary anywhere in Southern California.

I was fortunate to see Cubamerican last night at Regal South Beach Cinema. I came from Cuba in 1970 when I was 7 years old on what was called the Freedom Flights. This movie depicts the hardships that both parents and children go through when they are forced to leave their home land. It also shows the tenacity, values, persistence and "vivesa" that Cubans have. I learned many things that I didn't know and I am so grateful that my parents made that difficult decision to leave it all behind and come to the U.S. The movie is simply outstanding! Congratulations!
